This year I have been developing a new layer in my self-discovery. My announcement a couple of weeks ago that I was working towards becoming a professional photographer has been kicked into gear about 10 times.
On a whim a few weeks a good, I signed up for a photography workshop held in LA. Last weekend I attended and it was remarkable. The workshop was taught by an amazing photographer Christa Meola (see my links for her page). I met a number of other remarkable photographers at the workshop who were very helpful in teaching me some great tips and gave me excellent feedback on my portfolio.
I have loved taking travel pictures for years now, but I haven't spent much time taking pictures of people. Part of Christa's specialty is boudoir photography and on the second day of the workshop she had a couple of ladies come in to act as our models. Each of us got 10 minutes to photograph and below are three of my favorite pictures that I took. I absolutely loved working with Ximena and I tried to make the experience as fun for her as it was for me. I can't imagine having 10 people crowded around you in a small room watching you pose. I was nervous to work in front of everyone, but I managed to zone them out while I focused on the task at hand.
I am definitely excited about starting my business and finding more people to photograph. My next challenge is to design my website and get my business license squared away. Once my link is ready I will let you all know about it.
