Day 2 - Erfurt

Erfurt is a beautifully centrally located city in the state of Thuringia. Created in the early 700's it has become a popular tourist destination not only because it is a well-preserved medieval city, but also because Martin Luther attended university in the city.

It has an astonishing number of churches and has been called the "Rome of Germany." Besides the city being beautiful, it was also smaller than I anticipated. I never felt crowded or in a horde of tourists in the city. Every street downtown was picturesque and charming.

Enjoy a few more photos.
